What is the endocannabinoid system?

The Endocannabinoid System helps to maintain homeostasis in the body, its main job is to keep the body EVEN. Endocannabinoids and their receptors are found throughout the body: in the brain, organs, connective tissues, glands and immune cells. With its complex actions in the immune system, nervous system, and the body's organs, the endocannabinoid system can be considered a bridge between body and mind.

key pieces of the ecs

1.

Cannabinoid Receptors

Found on the surface of cells, they work like a "lock and key" system with endocannabinoids

2.

Endocannabinoids

Small molecules that activate cannabinoid receptors, produced naturally in the body

3.

Metabolic Enzymes

Ensure endocannabinoids get used when the body needs and breaks down endocannabinoids after they are used
